Tangled Birthday Party

For my daughters 4th birthday, she asked for a Tangled party. I try to have all the main characters from the show or movie on display somewhere in the party. For Tangled I started with a banner. I got this off of the internet but I can't remember where. I will edit this if I can find it again.

They were just cut out threaded through with string and tied with ribbons.

Printed off coloring sheets and gave them some color and framed them with purple ribbon to display Pascal and Maximus.

Of course you need a wanted poster of Flynn. So I drew one.

Store bought plates and table cover. I saw the idea for the pascal party favors online and it didn't tell how to make them but I just used colored foam and cut it out. Glued it around the party blower and drew a face and glued a googly eye.

I made lanterns to hang from the ceiling. They were just pieces of bright yellow paper taped into a lantern shape. Painted different designs in purple on each and hung them by string.

Drew a Mother Gothel on a canvas saying "Rapunzel, let down your hair!"

Strung to together 3 skiens of yarn tied with purple bows to come down the stairs across the wall and out the door.

Made Rapunzels art gallery for the kids to be able to color on the "wall" like Rapunzel did in her tower. This is just poster boards put up on the wall and a boarder placed around.

Willy Wonka Birthday Party

I was SOOOOOOOOOO excited when my soon to be 5 year old said she wanted a Willy Wonka themed birthday party!!! And not the new kinda creepy Johnny Depp version.....old school Willy!! Oh, this was gonna be so much fun. Talking about visions of sugar plums......and chocolate, and peppermint, and taffy.......Did I mention this was gonna be fun?!?!

So I started by watching the movie again and the very first thing that came to me were giant peppermints!! So here is how I made them. You can see one of them in the corner of this pic.

These were made with 2 Styrofoam plates stapled together. You could glue them if you don't want the staples showing. But I didn't mind and it was faster for me just to staple them. Then used a marker to draw and color in the red part. I also made some with green. Wrapped them in cellophane and tied the ends in ribbon. I think I made about 15 of these and just put them all over the walls around the party area.

Next... Oompa-Loompa's! I drew all of them and colored them in with marker. And I placed them randomly throughout the party area. Since Willy Wonka is such a quotable movie I placed some of E's favorite Oompa Loompa quotes with each one.

In this pic you can also see all the pom poms I made for the party. I make pompoms for every party. It is just easy, fun, colorful and festive. For this one I made purple and gold pom poms. Here is how you make them.

In this corner, I just bought some material, sewed it into a bag, filled it up with random clothing (just needed to stuff it with something and I didn't want to BUY stuffing) and marked them as "SUGAR". Also used extra boxes from the garage, taped them shut and printed off some wonka labels to glue on.

Also each one of the kid characters got a center of sorts. This is where we put up Augustus Glup's picture. I figured he would want to be where all the sugar and boxes of candy bars would be!! :)

This is Veruca's area with the educated eggdecator. This is just my food scale with a back taped to it that I drew. Filled with purple cellophane and a gold foil covered chocolate egg. I actually ordered this form a chocolate shop cause I wanted the kids to be able to eat it. But the next plan was to just wrap one myself over a styrofoam egg from the craft store.

Mike Tv and Violets area. Made the tv out of an extra box in the garage, with aluminum foil rabbit ears. Printed of a wonka bar and a tiny Mike from the computer and glued them on.

Violet's part is just a bowl of blue candy with Wonka's quote attached.

This is were we usually put a HAPPY BIRTHDAY sign but instead I just drew W with the wonka had and put up this cute candy garland that I found at Hobby Lobby.

O.k. This was a huge hit with the kids. I use a half moon piece of styrofoam and a block piece for the mushrooms. Sprayed them with spray paint and glued them together. Cut out some holes in the top, glued in cupcake liners and filled with mini marshmallows. The kids LOVED it!! Also filled the bottom of the tree with mini candy bars

Had a tree full of bagged cotton candy and large gummy bears!

We also had a Wonkavator. It certainly didn't turn out like I hoped. I'm not giving you instructions on this cause I just winged it and I'm sure anyone could do a better job than this! But the kids loved it and that's all that matters.

Pained a sign for the front of the door. It seemed appropriate. And lined the entrance with balloons and wrapped the posts in gold ribbon. This wasn't planned but I had this stuff in the craft box so I used it. Also if you look closely in the top pic you can see an oompa loompa looking out the window, waiting for kids to arrive!

Our game was pin the hair of the oompa loompa. I had one drawn oompa looma and hair pieces for al the kids. The oompa loompa is saying "oompa loompa do ba da dee, you have my hair now give it to me!"

I also lined the wall with candy paper. The kids could go up and pick the dots off the wall and eat it.

I lined the table with a cheap purple vinyl table cover and taped it under then wrapped the legs with gold wrapping paper. On top was lollipop plates I found at hobby lobby, and colorful pails and cups that I found at Target for a dollar each. Filled the buckets with labeled candy and then threw random pieces of candy around the table. Also the made some oompa loompa hair and glued a stick onto them so each kid could hold it up to their face and have oompa loompa hair. Oh there is also a syrofoam tree that is holding all the lollipops.

Why?

I'm creating this blog for myself, my kids and whoever else would like to read it. I have 2 girls ages 6 and 3. I will be posting birthday party ideas that I have had and any other ideas for the kids. Feel free to use any of these ideas.  I tend to over do things, so I'm sure you could simplify any of the things I share here and get the same, if not, better effect. I really love ready other mommies ideas and people have told me I have had some pretty good ones, so here they are if you would like to see them. :)
